Groundwater near coal-ash dumps from power plants contaminated with arsenic

WASHINGTON — There were 19 new sites across the United States where groundwater around coal-ash dumps from power plants were contaminated with arsenic and other pollutants, according to The Raw Story.

These sites were discovered by an environmental monitor and in some cases they found the arsenic to be 10 times more than the maximum contaminant level, state the article.

The findings pose a serious health threat to workers and surrounding residents, noted the article.
