Bosch opens first thermotechnology plant

Aug. 31, 2015

2015 marks the regional company’s 60th year doing business in Mexico.

TEPOTZOTLÁN, Mexico — Aug. 28, 2015 — Bosch is investing about $5 million into its newly opened thermotechnology plant about 50 kilometers north of Mexico City, according to a press release.

The 8,700-square-meter site is the company’s first thermotechnology plant, stated the release. About 100 associates should work at the facility by 2016.

The plant has produced gas-fired instantaneous water heaters for the Mexican and Latin American markets since June 2015, noted the release. The company expects demand for energy efficient hot water generation to rise in the region.

"As a result of its increasing importance as a business location, Mexico is a key pillar in our growth strategy for the North American market," said Bosch board of management member Werner Struth in the release. "Locating production here allows us to position ourselves closer to our customers and better tailor our products to the local market."

Research and development (R&D) and certification departments will also be located at the site, reported the release.

Bosch increased its sales in Mexico by nearly six percent in 2014, shared the release, and the trend has continued in 2015. The company has expanded R&D efforts in the country and doubled its workforce to more than 12,300. 2015 marks Bosch’s 60th year doing business in Mexico through its regional company.
