ANN ARBOR, Mich. and RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — NSF International has earned accreditation from Brazil’s National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) to test and certify bottled water for the Brazilian marketplace, according to a press release.

This approval from INMETRO provides verification that standards set by both Brazil and the U.S.  Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are met along with NSF’s testing and certification requirements, stated the release.

“ABINAM, the Brazilian Association of Mineral Waters, has long recognized NSF product certification as the gold standard within the bottled water industry. Gaining accreditation by INMETRO ensures Brazilian consumers are protected and can have confidence in brands that have achieved NSF bottled water certification. We expect many more brands of bottled water in Brazil will apply for this distinction," said Carlos Lancia, General Manager of Ouro Fino (NSF Certified) and President of ABINAM.
