I   asked my doctor about chlorine and why are we using it? He said we need
it in our water to kill organic matter, bacteria and  more.

I said to the doctor, what is my skin made of?   He said, living organic matter.
do I not have bacteria all over my skin?  He says yes you do.

I thought I would ask one more thing.  Why would anyone shower, bath, swim
or drink water containing a chemical that is designed to kill what I am made of?

He sat down and said to me, are you a doctor? No! just have common sense.

Dale,
The truth is that it is the lesser of two evils. Cholera outbreaks would run rampant as well as other waterborne diseases without chlorination. With that said, Chlorine is not the only method for treatment, but possibly the most cost effective other than maybe ozone? I have been setting up chlorine gas, and chemical feed systems for years. It is time to look for newer methods and the technologies are starting to be developed to do so.
The reason maybe that chlorine has been accepted for so long is the fact that it can help control other contaminants such as iron and manganese. The fact that it is readily available in different forms also seems to rationalize its use.
