CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A fire last Friday at the Cedar Rapids wastewater treatment plant is not expected to have any effects on the environment or cause contamination, according to The Gazette.

Officials said that no one was hurt during the fire and some damage to the plant was reported but the extent of the accident was not clear at the time, noted the article.

Smoke and fire were first reported at the roof of the incinerator building and firefighters determined the problem started at the second floor conveyor running from the solid de-watering building to the incinerator building, stated the article.
