WEST POINT, N.Y. — A mercury spill at the Stillwell Pump House of the water treatment plant in Highland Falls was handled by haz-mat teams from West Point, Orange and Rockland counties, according to Mid-Hudson Radio.

A state Department of Environmental Conservation spokeswoman said 15 tablespoons of mercury leaked from a gauge that measures water flow at the facility, stated the article.

According to West Point officials, the mercury has been cleaned up and there was no damage to the water source, noted the article.
