SPOKANE, Wash. — An economic analysis ran by the Department of Ecology shows that water permits that were issued in the Quincy Groundwater Management Subarea have meant millions of dollars to the area’s economy, according to the Crescent Bar Chronicle.

Around 167 new permits for the withdrawal of artificially stored groundwater within the QGMS have been issued by Ecology to help provide more farmable acreage, new industrial growth and support construction jobs, stated the article.

The permits could add $14.8 million to agricultural property values and $70 million to commercial land values in Grant County as results from the past seven years have led to the use of 35,219 acre-feet of water, noted the article.
