EIGHT MILE, Ala. — Officials say there are two different explanations for the foul smell in Eight Mile, Ala. and one of them is that the odor is coming from groundwater contamination, according to WALA News.

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) said they are suspicious of the groundwater but have yet been able to confirm the acquisition, stated the article.

A statement from the city of Prichard, Ala. states that “ADEM is sending a sample to their laboratory to determine the type of contamination. The results will be available in approximately two weeks. After receiving the results, ADEM will conduct more tests to determine the source of the contamination.”
