TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association National Water Center has started being constructed in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to improve the forecasting and reporting of drought, floods and other water crises, according to The Birmingham News.

Gary Carter, director of hydrologic development at the National Weather Service, said this $18.8 million facility will be “game-changing” in helping provide safety to the nation, noted the article.

“It's really something brand new. There's no center like this in the country right now,” Carter said. “It will kind of be the nation's nerve center for all water-related activities.”
