LIBERTY, Kan. — There is a chance that later in the year Liberty, Kan. officials may ask residents to approve a revenue bond issue of $72 million to support the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, according to the Liberty Tribune.

Assistant Administrator Dan Estes said that only a majority vote would be needed for passage, noted the article.

“This is a big decision, and we don’t want to rush into it,” said Mayor Greg Canuteson. “But we have to do something to protect Liberty residents from these enormous rate hikes by Kansas City.”
