WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — A $54 million project to renovate the Westborough Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is almost finished a month ahead of schedule, according to the Community Advocate.

Not only is the plant ahead of schedule, but they are expected to complete the project at around $1.8 million under budget, noted the article.

Because water standards have increased the last several years Town Engineer Jack Goodhall said, “It’s tough for the DEP and EPA [Environmental Protection Agency]. They must listen to the environmental groups, who want tougher standards. They also must listen to the towns, many of whom say the new mandates are too costly a burden.”
