ANN ARBOR, MI — The city council here has banned buying or serving bottled water at any city events, claiming it is harmful to the environment, a June 12 metromode story reported.
The council claims that bottles use up crude oil and energy to make and create waste. It also says that transporting bottled water pollutes the air.
A resolution from the city council states that “continuing to bottle water from non-renewable sources is dangerous to Michigan’s ecology and counter to the principles of a Green Society,” the story said.
