According to the resolution, “The US Conference of Mayors encourage a compilation of information regarding the importance of municipal water and the impact of bottled water on municipal waste.”
The Alexandria, VA-based industry group said in a June 25 position statement, “Resolution No. 90 frames the issue as a ‘bottled water versus [sic] tap water’ debate, possibly causing confusion among consumers and discouraging choice of this important bottled beverage.”
