CLEVELAND — MAR Systems, LLC, based here, announced in an April 14 press release that in March the company was issued US Patent No. 7,341,667 for certain processes for reducing the level of arsenic in aqueous liquids, such as water and industrial fluid waste streams.
MAR Systems said it has commercialized its Sorbster™ brand of products for use in these and other processes.
Claude Kennard, MAR Systems CEO, is a co-inventor of the media that extracts arsenic, mercury or other heavy metals from waste fluid streams, the press release said. Kennard said in the release that the media can be completely recycled after it is spent.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which developed the technology with Kennard, also was an assignee of the patent.
MAR Systems said it also is seeking patent protection for the removal of mercury from aqueous liquids.
