Documentary at film festival angers Nestlé
Friday, June 27, 2008

NANTUCKET, MA — Adam Yauch, member of the music group Beastie Boys, ruffled some feathers at the Nantucket Film Festival last weekend (June 19-22) when his documentary film “Flow” pointed fingers at Nestlé, claiming that the company is environmentally irresponsible, according to a World Entertainment News Network article on www.pr-inside.com.

According to the article, Nestlé representatives were furious after hearing the company’s name mentioned amidst criticism of bottled water products and privatization of water. One woman reportedly stormed out about an hour into the movie, after the film mentioned Nestlé, telling an audience member, “That was one-sided.”

The article quoted Yauch’s statement to the New York Post, “They [Nestlé] put pretty pictures of springs and forests on the bottles, but in this movie they’re getting called out. I think it’s great. They lock down water as a commodity they can buy and sell. It’s terrifying.”

Yauch refuses to apologize for the footage, according to the article. The film is set to debut in New York in September.
