EDINA, MN — Dow Water Solutions, the water treatment division of The Dow Chemical Co., announced March 2 that it has started construction of its Water Technology Development Center at Dow facilities in Tarragona, Spain.
The center will include capabilities for application development and component testing, and, according to Dow, it “is designed to accelerate the commercialization of Dow’s water treatment technologies, which help to enable the production of clean drinking water from various water sources, including seawater.”
Dow said it is investing US$15 million in the center, which is expected to open in 2010 and employ 25 expert researchers.
The company also has been granted subsidies from Spain’s Ministry of Industry for the research programs conducted in this area, specifically in the field of sustainable water supplies.
