VANLEER, TN — Plans are under way to rebuild the main plant of StoneClear Springs, a bottler and home and office delivery company which was destroyed in a May 10 blaze.
The original 12,500-square-foot main plant was destroyed in the fire, which left a small building standing and in which no injures occurred. At the time, the company was owned by Jane and Tom Edwards, who had indicated their intent to rebuild on the same site because the nearby spring water source was undisturbed, as WaterTech Online® reported.
This month the Edwards sold the company to Nashville-headquartered Kimbro Oil Co., which maintains a private-label bottled water distribution business called Kimbro Water Co. A StoneClear Springs spokeswoman who wishes to remain anonymous on October 5 told WaterTech Online that the bottling company and its brand will continue to be known as StoneClear Springs. Despite the fire, HOD service resumed less than three weeks after the fire, she said, noting that customers lost have been “next to none.”
StoneClear Springs bottled water, treated with ultraviolet and ozone disinfection, was chosen during the 19th annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, held in February, as No. 1 in the “Purified Bottled Water” category. During the competition, the company also won kudos for its StoneClear Springs Sparkling brand and for the label design on its sparkling brand bottles.
