NEW ORLEANS — At the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) 2009 Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting, which is taking place this week, troubleshooting expert Mark Campbell addressed a workshop audience and compared finding and fixing problems with water well systems to detective work, according to a press release.
In a workshop entitled, “Troubleshooting Common Water System Problems,” Campbell, of ITT Residential & Commercial Water, said sometimes the clues are obvious and sometimes not, but knowing what to look for is key, noted the release.
Campbell shared secrets to success, stating that he divides most water system problems into two broad categories: Electrical or mechanical.
“Based on my experience, if I had to choose which category of problems are most common, I’d say about 70 percent of are electrical involving the motor, wires or control systems,” Campbell said.
Included in the presentation were troubleshooting advice on properly diagnosing well water systems and recognizing proper pump sizes for the job.
Too often, noted Campbell, incorrect product selection results from contractors trying to keep costs down.
