SAN FRANCISCO — The University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) is set to construct a new neuroscience building that will be 25 percent more energy efficient and use 20 percent less water than comparable facilities, according to a press release.
The building, which will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, will achieve the water use reduction mainly through the installation of waterless urinals, the release stated.
The waterless urinals selected for the new facility are High Performance Composite (HCP) urinals developed and manufactured by Waterless Co. LLC., according to the release.
The HCP urinals, which are designed to be touch-free and odor-free, will save approximately 40,000 gallons of water per year, the release stated.
