NEW YORK — SwissINSO Holding Inc. has completed the installation of its first solar water purification unit, according to a press release.
The units, named KRYSTALL™, combine membrane technology with photovoltaic panels to provide a green solution to drinking water shortages, the release stated.
Fully powered by solar energy, each unit is capable of converting 100,000 liters of brackish water and 50,000 liters of sea water per day into high-quality potable water, according to the release.
The systems use a patented membrane technology that relies on a series of circular plates, which minimize pressure on the pumps and membranes. Thus, the units require less energy than other systems and can operate solely on solar power, the release stated.
