WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA — Steve Reder, president of QT 5 Inc., a manufacturer of water laced with nicotine, has created NicoWater as a smoking substitute, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
He told the paper that QT 5, which comes in a 16.9 fluid-ounce bottle, is filled with purified water and four milligrams of diluted nicotinum.
The company landed a contract with the Eckerd drug store chain, rolled-out the product in May and is now on sale in 2,600 stores. It's on the verge of entering Rite Aid, adding an additional 3,700 sites, and distributors are targeting bars and convenience stores, the article stated.
Reder said in the article that the bottles, sold with a suggested retail price of $1.99, fend off the urge to smoke for 90 minutes or so.
