AUGUSTA, ME — Maine legislators are considering banning Nico Water, a bottled water laced with nicotine, from the state, The Associated Press (AP) said in an article reported by WMTW-TV.
Tim Owens of QT5, the company distributing the product, told the AP that the nicotine drink is marketed toward smokers who need a nicotine fix. But state Sen. John Martin, D-Eagle Lake, has introduced a bill to ban the water.
Martin said in the report that the water is a threat to the public and children in particular. The bill is expected to be debated in January when the Legislature returns to session, the AP reported.
