LONDON — The fact that Coca-Cola is using treated tap water as its main bottled water ingredient has started a firestorm of controversy, according to Reuters.
Coca-Cola spokeswoman Judith Snyder told Reuters today that Dasani, Coke's attempt to break into Britain's billion-dollar bottled water market, took its raw material from the water mains in Sidcup, in Southeast London.
Although the water is treated through reverse osmosis (RO), British newspapers are fuming that Coke was selling tap water — no matter how treated it is, the article said.
