Great Lakes Declaration signed
Friday, December 03, 2004
CHICAGO — Government officials and tribal representatives will gather in Chicago today to sign a Great Lakes Declaration to protect the watershed for future developments, according to a US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) media release.

The declaration will act as a framework document for the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration. Officials in attendance will include members of President Bush's cabinet and various state and tribal leaders from the lakes' boarders, the EPA reported.

The Great Lakes Declaration is an intergovernmental pledge of support to further protect, improve and restore the Great Lakes through a restoration and protection strategy, the release said.
