National drinking water week begins
Monday, May 02, 2005
DENVER — Water professionals nationwide are celebrating National Drinking Water Week, which spans from May 1-7.

In a news release issued today by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the association's executive director Jack Hoffbuhr declared the week as a chance for water utilities and customers to join together and celebrate the immeasurable value of clean and safe water.

"North America has some of the best water in the world, and we all share the obligation to keep it that way," Hoffbuhr said in the release.

For more than 30 years, the AWWA has celebrated Drinking Water Week with its members. During the first week in May, utilities, their communities and other groups across the country celebrate our most precious natural resource with fairs, programs, contests and other exciting events, the release noted.
