Portuguese bottled water makes weight-loss claim
Thursday, April 20, 2006
LISBON, PORTUGAL —This nation's second-largest brewery will launch a new bottled water product later this month with a claim that it helps induce weight loss by making those who drink it feel full, according to an April 19 Agence France-Presse (AFP) report by Yahoo News.

The "Formas Luso" water contains soluble fibers to stave off hunger with strawberry, lemon and mango flavoring, the article said.

According to the article, Central de Cervejas e Bebidas, which is owned by British group Scottish and Newcastle, will produce the drink in hopes of expanding to US and Canadian markets.

The company has invested $5.5 million in the product, and has set aside $7.4 million to market the product for its April 28 release, the article said.
