More bottled water recalled for bromate
Wednesday, August 30, 2006
SYRACUSE, NY — Food Club spring water produced between June 27 and August 4 has been pulled from all P&C and Big M markets after the bottled water tested positive for bromate, according to an August 30 story on NBC 3.

The Penn Traffic Co., the parent company of P&C, voluntarily pulled the water after the bromate levels tested higher than US Environmental Protection Agency standards allow, according to the story.

Penn Traffic President and CEO Bob Chapman said in the story that there is no health risk to drinking the water, but it's being recalled because it does not meet federal regulations, the story said.

According to the story, 106 P&C and Big M stores in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania pulled the water from their shelves.

Wegmans Food Markets, based in nearby Rochester, recalled much of its Food You Feel Good About Spring Water over three weeks ago for high levels of bromate, but it was not immediately known if the water sold by the various retailers came from the same source.
