ANGUS, ENGLAND – Mold growth, found in batches of Strathmore Water, has caused about 30,000 bottles to be recalled, according to an October 24 story by BBC News.
The recall affected the half-liter and 1.5-liter plastic water bottles filled between July 25 and August 11 of this year; the bottles were distributed to Cash and Carry chains and Costco stores, the story reported.
Barr Soft Drinks, owners of Strathmore Water, have fixed the defective filter at the firm's bottling plant blamed for the mold outbreak, the report said.
A representative from Barr said in the report the company has consulted fully with the Food Standards Agency and the agency is happy with the action taken.
The story said the mold is not harmful, as verified by independent experts, but was purely a cosmetic problem.
