KOFU, JAPAN – A mineral water company once affiliated with Nestlé Japan Ltd. has been operating for eight years without a proper license, a recent United Press International (UPI) report in The Washington Times said.
Fujiaqua Co., a bottler in central Japan, built a facility in 1998 to draw mineral water from a national park without obtaining a license required under the nation's Natural Parks Law, according to the story.
Regional Japanese officials said in the story that the facility has been operating for the past eight years without the license, but did not specify whether the company will face any penalties.
Water drawn by Fujiaqua Co. was bottled and sold by Nestlé until April 2006, the report noted.
