Montpelier, OH, took home the gold in the international water tasting competition's municipal category, which had 28 other participants. The village of about 4,200 won the same honors in 2006.
This year's competition, held February 24, drew participants from across the United States and 11 countries and region, including Armenia, Bosnia, Canada, New Zealand and the Philippines — all of which also produced award-winning waters.
The competition included more than 100 waters nationally and internationally. Its organizers tout it is the largest water-tasting competition globally, with more than 100 waters tasted by the public and a panel of media judges.
