ATLANTA — Residents in the entire state of Georgia have been put on Level 2 water restrictions set forth by the director of the state Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and the state Drought Response Committee, an April 19 story in The Telegraph reported.
Carol Couch, director of the state EPD, said in a news release that the state "has been in a persistent and progressive drought condition since last June," and a state climatologist said that the drought is unlikely to relent, according to the article.
The state EPD said groundwater and stream flows are in trouble and the amount of water in the reservoirs is just enough to get the state through the summer, the story said.
Under Level 2 restrictions, residents can water lawns only between midnight and 10 a.m., according to the story
