Over 1 million gallons of untreated wastewater spills into nearby creek after power outage

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Officials say that anyone with a private well living within 1/2 a mile of the spill site should only use water that has been distilled or boiled.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Over 1 million gallons of untreated wastewater was spilled into the Gilleland Creek in Pfugerville, Texas, due to a power outage, according to KVUE ABC News.

Officials say the power outage happened during the night at the city’s wastewater treatment facility, and that anyone with a private well living within 1/2 a mile of the spill site should only use water that has been distilled or boiled, noted the article.

A warning was also sent to residents that the public should avoid contact with waste material, soil or water in the impacted area.

The city is investigating the spill and working to clean up the wastewater, stated the article.
