WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The plant has gone six years without a violation.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Prince William County Service Authority (PWCSA) has received the Platinum Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for the second year in a row, according to Princewilliamliving.com.

Awardees are “NACWA member utilities that have experienced no permit violations for five consecutive years,” noted the article. The authority’s H.L. Mooney Advanced Water Reclamation Facility treats upwards of 24 million gallons of wastewater each day.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System tracks various levels including phosphorus, nitrogen and dissolved oxygen.

“We always strive to go above and beyond to meet all environmental regulations, which are some of the strictest in the nation,” said PWCSA General Manager Dean Dickey. “We are extremely proud of our hardworking staff at Mooney for this outstanding achievement.”

The facility’s treated wastewater is discharged into a tributary of the Potomac River, reported the article.
