UPLAND, Calif. — A recent ordinance to regulate the use of residential self-regenerating water softeners is being adopted by the Upland City Council, according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

The ordinance does not ban the use of water softening systems in general, but does prohibit future installation of salt-based water softeners, stated the article.

“The important thing about the salt water softening issue is simply this — nobody will be refused the ability to have a system. We're just trying to control the type of system, not the systems themselves,” Councilman Ken Willis said. “We're trying to do that in order to take care of not just you, but your children, grandchildren and as many who want to stay in this area.”
