MADISON, Wis. — Police say a burglar broke into a house in Madison, Wis. and stole 30 feet of copper from the home’s water heater and water softener, according to The Capital Times.

Usually copper thieves hit construction sites or businesses, but it seems they are now turning towards people’s homes, stated the article.

“Criminals who steal metal are mostly looking to sell it as scrap for quick cash,” said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
