CANTON, Ohio — During a recent commissioners meeting, $88.6 million for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant in Canton, Ohio were approved, according to The Review.
The approval makes it the largest capital project in the history of Stark County, Ohio, noted the release.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency had required the county to make upgrades to meet phosphorus limits.
A National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit had previously been delivered to Canton by the Ohio EPA.
The project includes separation membrane technology as well as nitrogen limiting requirements, which are expected to be implemented by the EPA soon, stated the article.
