WASHINGTON, D.C. — Abengoa has been selected by AES Gener to develop a new reverse osmosis desalination plant for AES Gener's Angamos power plant in Chile, according to an article by The Wall Street Journal.

Abengoa, an international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment industries, will manage the project's engineering, construction and operation with a budget of $26 million, the article reported.

According to the article, the plant will provide 19,200 m3/day of water for energy generation for use by AES Gener and other companies.

Although Abengoa already operates desalination plants in Algeria, Ghana, China, India and Spain and employs more than 1,400 people in Chile, the article continued, this will be the company's first desalination plant in Chile.
