Print Ad Specifications

Water Technology is printed by web offset on 38# enamel. The publication trim size is 7-7/8 inches x 10-7/8 inches. The binding method is saddle-stitched, jogged to the head. All live matter must be kept a minimum of .25 inches away from trim.

Preferred formats for materials (must be 300 dpi): pdf (create using Acrobat Distiller, embed all fonts without subsetting)

  • jpeg (save at maximum quality)

Ads designed in the following layout and graphics software are accepted:

  • QuarkXpress (6.5 or lower)
  • Adobe Illustrator (CS or lower)
  • Adobe Photoshop (CS or lower)
  • Adobe InDesign (CS or lower)

Color

Unless you have contracted to run a PMS color, all colors must be CMYK.

Images

Include all graphics and images placed, imported or embedded in your ad. Be sure to convert images from RGB to CMYK. Images must be 300 dpi.

Fonts

Include all fonts with your ad (Mac fonts only). If using PC fonts, make sure the fonts are embedded in the file you submit. For best results, select the actual font (such as Futura Bold) instead of applying bold style to regular Futura. If you are using unusual fonts, it is best to outline them (convert to a graphic).

Proofs

Advertisers must supply a proof of the ad printed at 100% of the actual size. The publisher does not accept responsibility for, and cannot guarantee, the quality of ads supplied without a proof. All materials, including negatives, insertion orders, contracts, product releases and other correspondence, should be sent to:

Send Files to FTP Site using Internet Explorer (for PC users)

Before beginning the transfer, place file(s) to be sent into a folder. Name the folder with your company name, and compress it using WinZip or any other compression program.

Please transfer .zip or .sit files only. They are less likely to get corrupted during the upload process, and transmission time is shorter.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.

  2. Type ftp://gvmedia.ebsco.com/ntp into the address box and click Enter.

  3. You will be prompted for a username and password. Enter username ntpftp and password ntpmedia. Click Login.

  4. Drag, or copy and paste, your folder into the appropriate magazine folder on the FTP site. The process is complete as soon as file transmission is done.

Please advise your Sales Representative as soon as files are transferred. All files placed on the FTP site are deleted automatically after 5 calendar days.

Send Files to FTP Site using FETCH (for Mac users)

Before beginning the transfer, place file(s) to be sent into a folder. Name the folder with your company name, and compress it using Stuff-it.

Please transfer .zip or .sea files only. They are less likely to get corrupted during the upload process, and transmission time is shorter.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Using FETCH, select New Connection from the File menu.

  2. Enter host ftp://gvmedia.ebsco.com/, user ID ntpftp and password ntpmedia. Set initial directory to ntp. Then click OK to establish the FTP connection.

  3. Open the appropriate magazine folder on the FTP site, and click on the Put Files… button.

  4. Locate and open the folder containing your compressed file(s). Click OK to begin file transfer.

  5. When file transmission is done, go to the File menu and select Quit.
