Atanta-based company receives commercialization rights to GO membrane

ATLANTA —Dr. Miao Yu, University of South Carolina, developed and patented a novel graphene oxide (GO) membrane.

ATLANTA — Advanced Membrane Technologies LLC announced the commercialization rights to Dr. Miao Yu’s ultrathin, graphene-based membrane for water treatment from the University of South Carolina located in Columbia, South Carolina, according to a press release.

Dr. Yu developed and patented a novel graphene oxide (GO) membrane proven to significantly reduce or eliminate the inherent problem that has minimized the effectiveness of membrane applications in the oil/water separation and purification markets, stated the release.

Advanced Membrane Technologies will perform more specific R&D with this GO membrane technology, which will include market applications such as: Stormwater treatment, wastewater treatment, oil in water separations, desalination, water purification and medical applications, reported the release.
