AWWA and water industry celebrate Drinking Water Week

May 5, 2015

DENVER — Drinking Water Week, which started May 3 and will last through May 9, brings together water professionals and the communities they serve to celebrate the vital role of water.

DENVER — The American Water Works Association (AWWA) and water professionals throughout North America will celebrate Drinking Water Week, May 3-9, with special events focused on getting to know drinking water and the local drinking water supply, according to a press release.

Environmental advocates, water utilities and other interested groups will celebrate drinking water through school events, community festivals and pubic presentations to commemorate Drinking Water Week, stated the release.

These groups will also provide their communities with vital information on how consumers can get to know their water, continued the release.

“It’s important we show our appreciation for our drinking water by celebrating its value through special activities meant to bring awareness about Drinking Water Week,” said AWWA CEO David LaFrance. “This is the opportune time to convey our message about drinking water to others but also to commemorate this important week of celebration.”

AWWA will join in the celebration by hosting special events at its Denver-based headquarters to raise funds for the association’s scholarship program, noted the release.
