MILWAUKEE — Badger Meter announced it obtained certification of its Information Security Management System (ISMS) under ISO 27001 and met the Service Organization Control (SOC) reporting framework of SOC 2, according to a press release.

Badger Meter retained Brier & Thorn, a risk management firm and managed security service provider, to monitor Badger Meter’s global networks and the BEACON® Advanced Metering Analytics (AMA) servers hosted by Amazon Web services in an effort to design, implement and maintain a coherent set of processes, policies and systems to manage the risks of its information assets, stated the release.

Brier & Thorn also performs quarterly penetration testing, internal audits and risk assessments of the manufacturer’s global networks as part of Badger Meter’s new vulnerability management program, reported the release.

The ISO 27001 certification of Badger Meter’s ISMS means it meets the security management standard that specifies security management best practices and comprehensive security controls following the ISO 27002 best practice guide, continued the release.

“We take the security of our customers’ data very seriously, and this certification confirms our longstanding commitment to making sure their critical information is protected,” said Richard A. Meeusen, chairman, president and CEO of Badger Meter. “Following these certifications, our ongoing goal will be to help our customers and partners understand the robust controls in place to maintain both the security and protection of our data. We want them to know that when they do business with Badger Meter, they can feel secure.”
