EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Aug. 27, 2015 —Steve Wirtel, P.E., has joined Kore Infrastructure as executive vice president, business development, according to a press release.

Wirtel will work to grow the company in the U.S. and globally, noted the release. He has 30 years of experience in the water and wastewater market, most recently serving as senior vice president of nutrient recovery at Ostara Nutrient Recovery.

Wirtel also worked with Carollo Engineers and USFilter, stated the release.

“Steve is an incredible addition to Kore and I’m honored to have him aboard,” said Cornelius Shields, Kore’s co-founder and executive chairman, in the release. “His experience with wastewater utilities is a tremendous asset and he fills out the proven talent on Kore’s executive management team.”

“Kore’s technology overcomes the biosolids management challenges wastewater agencies face,” said Wirtel in the release. “The Kore process provides an enduring diversification option that converts biosolids into a resource we all need: energy. I wanted to be a part of that.”

Construction of Kore’s first commercial facility is in progress in Southern California, reported the release. Once in operation in early 2016, it will serve the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts and other wastewater agencies.

Kore transforms biosolids into renewable energy resources, shared the release. It finances, builds and operates integrated on-site plants of off-site merchant facilities.
