Blue-White Industries receives ISO certification
Blue-White Industries announced that is ISO 9001:2015 certified — the internationally recognized standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It is the most widely used QMS standard in the world, with more than 1.1 million certificates issued to organizations in 178 countries. ISO 9001:2015 provides the basis for effective processes and people to consistently deliver high-quality products and services.
Mangrove Water Technologies adds to its board and senior management
Mangrove Water Technologies, a developer of a platform solution that converts waste streams to valuable chemicals on-site and on-demand, appointed Richard Reese as a new independent board member and George Nagy as vice president of engineering and operations. Reese has a proven track record in the industrial wastewater market and has more than 30 years of experience as an engineer, general manager and executive within large organizations and first-stage growth companies delivering services and technology. He served as COO and later CEO of environmental technology and process solutions provider Envirogen Technologies Inc. He also held roles with Siemens Water Technologies, Veolia and USFilter, serving clients in a range of market verticals using industrial water and hydrocarbon recycling products and services.
Nagy will be responsible for the execution of Mangrove’s field demonstrations and commercial projects. He specializes in the water, wastewater and manufacturing sectors and has held executive and senior management positions at Organica Water, FilterBoxx, AMEC and Zenon. In his more than 30-year career, he has led and executed complex, multimillion dollar domestic and international EPC and EPCM projects in Canada, Europe, Asia and Africa, involving multi-disciplinary teams of up to 250 people.
WetDATA awarded AI for Earth grant from Microsoft
WetDATA, a nonprofit water data hub, received a grant from Microsoft as part of its AI for Earth program. The grant will be used to aggregate water data and provide online tools to address water risks and identify innovative approaches to address these risks. WetDATA is initially focused on supporting the implementation of the Colorado State Water Plan and will expand to the western U.S. and nationally.
Microsoft’s AI for Earth program is aimed at empowering people and organizations to solve global environmental challenges by increasing access to AI tools and educational opportunities while accelerating innovation. Via the Azure for Research AI for Earth award program, Microsoft provides selected researchers and organizations access to its cloud and AI computing resources to accelerate, improve and expand work on climate change, agriculture, biodiversity and/or water challenges. WetDATA is among the first grant recipients of AI for Earth, launched in July 2017. The grant process was a competitive and selective process and was awarded in recognition of the potential of the work and power of AI to accelerate progress.
