FRANKFURT, Germany — Bosch will begin a new division, Bosch Global Service Solutions (SO), on Jan. 1, 2016, to bring together its internal and external services, according to a press release.
SO will provide shared service functions related to administration and sales internally, noted the release. It will also continue its eCall, customer support and business process outsourcing services.
The division will operate from the Service Solutions business unit, stated the release. It will later become a separate legal entity. The Service Solutions unit is run by Bosch Sicherheitssysteme GmbH.
“In light of rapidly changing markets, and especially of the accelerated technological change brought about by the Internet of Things, Bosch will further expand its services portfolio,” said Dr. Stefan Hartung, the member of the Bosch board of management, in the release.
The Service Solutions unit employs about 5,000 associates, shared the release. Their terms of employment will not be affected.
The company expects the move to bring together the existing global shared services to a common standard basis, reported the release. It should also improve efficiency, reduce red tape and expand its portfolio of services for external customers.
Bosch offers emergency eCall service in ten languages for 27 European automakers, CCTV-monitored truck parking spaces, cloud-based video surveillance, social media evaluation and more, noted the release.
