Carson-Newman University makes water its mission

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — University students raised money for water filters for Guatemalan families during the annual Mission Emphasis Week.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman University's annual Mission Emphasis Week focused on water this year, according to an article by knoxnews.com.

Campus events focused on the fact that many families in third world countries don't have access to clean, safe drinking water, the article reported.

According to the article, some Carson-Newman students traveled to Guatemala earlier this year and were able to deliver four water filters to Guatemalan families in rural areas that will supply clean water for two years.

As part of the Mission Emphasis week, students raised money to help purchase additional water filters to send to Guatemalan families, the article reported.
