City of Delano awards nitrate removal project to AdEdge Water Technologies

May 29, 2015

BUFORD, Ga. — The current nitrate levels for the city of Delano, California, are not compliant with California’s drinking water standard of 45 mg/l of nitrate as NO3.

BUFORD, Ga. — AdEdge Water Technologies announced it has been awarded a nitrate removal project and will implement biottta™ treatment, a biologically tailored two-stage treatment approach, for the city of Delano, California, according to a press release.

Situated in the San Joaquin Valley around 30 miles north of Bakersfield, Delano is a community with 38,000 residents, and the current nitrate levels are not compliant with California’s drinking water standard of 45 mg/l of nitrate as NO3, stated the release.

The release reported that AdEdge will design and manufacture a biottta™ treatment package rated for a maximum flow of 1 MGD, and the treatment module consists of “a vertical pressure vessel acting as a bioreactor and a second vertical pressure vessel serving as a biofilter.”

AdEdge’s biottta™ treatment process, noted the release, uses naturally-occurring bacteria “to eliminate multiple contaminants from groundwater rather than create harmful waste streams” that may be found in other treatment applications.
