DALLAS — The municipality will address sanitary sewer overflows with the grant.

DALLAS — The city of Cabot, Arkansas, will install new wastewater treatment equipment after receiving funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), according to a press release.

The $485,000 grant will allow the city to upgrade infrastructure including addressing sanitary sewer overflows with 10,000 feet of  piping, noted the release.

The Clean Water Act allows the EPA to oversee wastewater management programs, stated the release. The programs comprise a broad range of efforts to use, treat and dispose of wastewater effectively and responsibly.

The EPA awards funding to state and local municipalities for many projects including wastewater reclamation, municipal wastewater treatment systems, drinking water infrastructure and nonpoint source pollution control, reported the release.
