DEERFIELD, Ill. — A boil order alert has been issued for parts of Deerfield, Ill. after a bacterial contamination was found in its water supply, according to CBS 2 Chicago.
Residents have been advised to use boiled water or bottled water until the afternoon of August 14.
Fecal coliform bacteria was found in the water supply, noted the article.
“Fecal coliform is a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms,” said Andrew Lichterman, assistant to the village manager.
This type of contamination is common when there is a break into the distribution system or after increased runoff into the water supply, stated the article.
