County wins several awards, including drinking water taste

MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Two of HCWA’s plants received Gold Awards, while three were awarded with Platinum Awards.

MCDONOUGH, Ga. — The Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) was recognized for having the best tasting drinking water in the state by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) during its Spring Conference, according to Henryherald.com.

All five of HCWA’s treatment facilities received awards, and HCWA also won Water Plant of the Year for its Towaliga Water Treatment Plant as well as Water Reclamation Facility of the Year, noted the article.

Candidates for the Plant of the Year awards must have had no permit violations in the past year to qualify, stated the article. These plants also get the Gold Award. Facilities with no violations in the past five years receive the GAWP Platinum Award.

Two of HCWA’s plants received Gold Awards, while three were awarded with Platinum Awards, reported the article.

Nic Spann of HCWA also defended his state champion title during the Meter Madness Competition, assembling a 5/8-inch residential water meter in 35.6 seconds, shared the article.
