WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — One out of three water samples collected on August 16 came back positive for E. coli bacteria leading to the Westborough Water Department issuing a drinking water warning, according to the MetroWest Daily News.
Department officials said there is no immediate risk, but those with severely compromised immune systems, infants and some elderly individuals could be at risk, noted the article.
The contamination came from Westborough’s Fay Mountain water storage tank, which has since been taken offline while further testing takes place, stated the article.
